Stand up against the Melancthon mega-quarry

Here’s a meaningful way to spend a few hours on the Saturday before Canada Day.  Join a group of artists who are protesting against putting a limestone quarry at Melancthon.  The quarry would consume many acres of prime farmland, and the area is the watershed of significant water resources.

To learn more about the quarry, google Melancthon mega-quarry. See www.inthehills.ca/2011/06/back/birth-of-a-protest/ for a history of the protests.

On Saturday, June 30, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., artists taking a stand against the proposed quarry will be creating art at 132 Main Street, Horning’s Mills, near Melancthon.  Google maps will give you directions to get there.

See www.artistsagainstthemegaquarry.com for more details.

The BAD Raging Grannies will be raising our voices on Saturday in support of the artists’ protest.  Join us and sing along.
